Life Away From Gilbert

Most of my favorite things to do revolve around food. I love to cook, try new restaurants, and although I never follow recipes, I love reading and collecting cookbooks. I also have three children, and during the summer we go fishing, hiking or camping almost every weekend. My favorite place to relax is anywhere that has no phone signal or internet connection. “Only by going alone in silence, without baggage, can one truly get into the heart of the wilderness. All other travel is mere dust and hotels and baggage and chatter.” – John Muir

If you were to donate to one charity, who would it be and why?

The charities I support the most are ones that offer opportunities such as education, job training, counseling, daycare, and housing, to the homeless and less fortunate, especially for women and children. I think it is just as easy for society to marginalize and punish the homeless as it is to provide them with opportunities to change their lives for the better. One of those options tears our community apart, and others make it stronger.
