Holiday and Paid Time Off
We offer a generous amount of Paid Time-Off (PTO) to each employee and observe ten holidays each year.
CPA Exam Bonus
We encourage new associates to take and pass the CPA exam within two years of employment. We will pay for the approved review course if taken within the first year of employment. Any employee new to public accounting which takes and passes the CPA and Ethics exam during your first year of employment will receive a $5000 bonus. If taken and passed within the second year, you will receive a $4000 bonus. If taken and passed after the second year, you will receive a $3000 bonus.
We allow up to four days in the two years as time off with pay to take the CPA exam. Once passed, we pay for the associated fees of obtaining and maintaining the CPA certification.
Professional Societies
Participating in CPA affairs is an integral part of being a professional. The firm pays your annual dues to the AICPA and state society.
Professional & Community Events
Several professional and community event tickets are offered complimentary to staff throughout the year. We encourage active participation in our region.
Social Events
Staff members can participate on a social committee to coordinate fun events throughout the year. The firm enjoys a holiday party, May Fun Day, and a summer picnic. There may even be an opportunity to attend a Sacramento Kings game based on availability, and the seats are so close that you can almost touch a player.

We are headquartered in Natomas, where I-5 and I-80 cross. You may have seen our sign as you've driven by. We're just minutes from downtown Sacramento but are so glad we don't have its daily traffic and parking challenges.
Speeches & Publication
The firm encourages staff members to write articles for publication in accounting journals and other publications and to make speeches to various professional, business, and civic groups.
Often the subject matter for a speech can be edited and revised to become an article for publication. It is worth the effort since the firm pays a $250 award for an article accepted for publication by an appropriate journal.
Mentor Program
Gilbert has a mentor program designed to assist you in your professional success. After your first six months at Gilbert, you will be paired with a mentor, someone you can respect and feel comfortable with. You will meet regularly with your mentor to determine your short-term and long-term goals, develop a plan for the coming year and identify tasks for reaching your goals. The mentor program adds the support many professionals need early in their careers.
Sabbatical
An almost unheard-of benefit in public accounting is our sabbatical program. After just seven years with the firm, management-level employees can enjoy extra time off, detached entirely from the routines and pressures of everyday work life. The intent is to allow employees time to recharge and refresh before continuing their career journey.
