Giving Back Adds Up

Instead of reporting for work at the office as usual on July 14, Gilbert employees volunteered at four sites throughout the Sacramento valley to observe our 9th Annual Community Service Day.

This year’s recipients included Folsom Zoo, Sacramento Loaves & Fishes, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, and Senior Gleaners.

Gilbert staffers helped to prepare and serve the daily meal provided to approximately 600 guests at Sacramento Loaves & Fishes.  The teams at Senior Gleaners and Sacramento Food Bank packaged over 250 boxes of food for distribution to clients and partner charities.  At the Folsom Zoo, volunteers helped renovate exhibits for the wolves and cougars, as well as railings and walkways throughout the zoo.

Gilbert has conducted our Annual Community Service Day since 2006. As in years past, the office was closed for the day. (Zero numbers were crunched.)

“This community service day allows us to live out our caring culture beyond our clients and employees, into the communities where we work,” says Darla Colson, Gilbert shareholder and CFO. “As an added benefit, employees enjoy a day off from their day-to-day routine, and roll up their sleeves to help at a different level.”
