Gilbert, Inc., CPAs and Advisors shut down their office on July 13th, 2015 for their 9th Annual Community Service Day.  Over 50 professionals disbursed into six different local nonprofits in Sacramento and Folsom and helped out in anyway that the nonprofit requested.

The 2015 nonprofit recipients included Loaves and Fishes, Make A Wish, Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA), Wind Youth Services, Sacramento Food Bank and Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary

Activities included everything from minor construction, prepping, sorting and serving food, organizing kitchen areas, raking leaves, landscaping, cleaning out storage areas to washing vans.

The team at Loaves and Fishes prepping the food. It takes a lot of volunteers to be able to feed nearly 600 people daily.

Sarah, Sona and the rest of the team cleaned, organized and labeled the kitchen cabinets at the Wishing Place for Make A Wish. Give a bunch of accountants a label maker and ask them to organize a space and you will see some happy faces.

“Volunteer groups give Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services the ability to provide food to over 150,000 food-insecure individuals each month. We’re so grateful to Gilbert for taking valuable time out of their workday to help us serve those in need.” – Robin Simpson, Volunteer Services Manager, Sacramento Food Bank

After all of the hard work was done, the volunteers were able to go and visit the kittens. One of the biggest successes of the day was that two kittens were blessed with their fur-ever homes with one of our team members!
