Darla Colson is honored to be among the top CFOs recognized today by the Sacramento Business Journal. Each year, the Sacramento Business Journal celebrates the accomplishments of the top CFOs and financial executives in the area. There were 17 CFOs recognized at today’s luncheon.
Darla was appointed CFO of Gilbert in 1994, fulfilling that role for 20 of the firm’s nearly 30 years of existence. In that time, Darla has managed the finance and administrative functions for the firm as it has grown from a staff of 12 to now over 50 employees. Gilbert is now ranked as the 5th largest accounting firm in the region by the Sacramento Business Journal. She’s carried out this role in addition to being the head of Gilbert’s taxation department and maintaining a full client list.
Some highlights of Darla’s tenure as CFO have included the acquisition of two CPA firms; the upgrade and modernization of the firm’s time, billing and tax software; the implementation of detailed budgeting and planning systems; the opening of Gilbert’s satellite office in Folsom in 2004; and developing strategic decision-making as a member of Gilbert’s Executive Committee.
